Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about HIQ Society — from membership criteria to the application process.

Common Questions

HIQ Society is an invitation-only community of individuals whose cognitive abilities place them in the top 1% of the population. Founded to unite exceptional minds across every discipline, HIQ provides a private forum for intellectual exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the advancement of human understanding. Our members span mathematics, physics, philosophy, medicine, engineering, and the arts.

Unlike traditional IQ societies that focus solely on standardised test scores, HIQ Society evaluates candidates on multiple axes of intelligence: demonstrated achievement, creative output, peer-reviewed research, and verified cognitive testing. We are not a social club — we are a working intellectual collective. Membership is limited, deliberately curated, and purpose-driven.

Verification is handled through a confidential review process. Accepted evidence includes: prior membership in recognised high-IQ societies with documented thresholds, supervised IQ test results from licensed psychologists (WAIS-IV, Stanford-Binet, Cattell), peer-reviewed publication records, and exceptional achievement in internationally recognised competitions. All documentation is reviewed by our Admissions Board.

HIQ Society is explicitly interdisciplinary. Our members work across pure and applied mathematics, theoretical and experimental physics, computer science and artificial intelligence, biomedical research, philosophy and ethics, economics and game theory, creative writing and linguistics, architecture and design, and emerging fields such as quantum computing and synthetic biology. Intelligence is not confined to a single domain — neither are we.

Prospective members can apply through our online application form. You will need to provide proof of eligibility (test scores, publications, awards, or equivalent credentials), a brief personal statement describing your intellectual interests and what you would contribute to the Society, and two professional or academic references. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Your application enters a confidential review queue. The Admissions Board evaluates credentials, cross-references references, and assesses alignment with the Society's mission. The process typically takes 4–6 weeks. You will receive a decision by email. Accepted candidates are invited to an onboarding call with a Membership Director before receiving full access to HIQ's platforms and events.

HIQ Society charges an annual membership contribution to fund operations, the annual summit, and the research network infrastructure. The fee is structured on a sliding scale based on geography and career stage, ensuring that financial circumstances are never a barrier to membership. Full details are provided during the admissions process.

Yes. Existing members may nominate individuals who they believe meet the Society's standards. Nominations carry weight in the review process, but all nominees still undergo the standard credential verification. To nominate someone, use the nomination portal in the members' area or contact your Regional Director.

Members gain access to a private research network, the annual HIQ Summit, interdisciplinary collaboration groups, exclusive lectures and seminars from leading thinkers, a mentorship programme pairing senior and junior members, and early access to HIQ publications. Beyond tangible benefits, members consistently cite the quality of intellectual conversation and the rare experience of being among peers as the most valued aspects of the Society.

Absolutely. HIQ Society has members in 38 countries across six continents. Our communications, platforms, and events are designed for a global membership. The annual summit rotates between major cities, and regional chapters host local gatherings throughout the year. Language is not a barrier — our working language is English, but multilingual collaboration is actively encouraged.
